  • At orientation, each child will be given a camp T-Shirt that is the color of their group. We ask that your child wear this everyday. Your child should also wear comfortable shorts and sneakers. We recommend wearing a bathing suit under camp clothing. In their backpack, your child should pack an additional bathing suit, towel, flip flops and sunscreen. Mondays through Thursdays, you will also need to pack a lunch or have your child buy lunch at our snack shack. On Friday, pizza lunch is free and provided.

  • Campers are grouped co-ed by age. Groups are between 20-30 campers per group.

  • Ages 3 to 5 (Camper to staff 4 to 1)

Ages 6 to 7 (Camper to staff 5 to 1)

Ages 8 to 9 (Camper to staff 6 to 1)

Ages 10 to 12 (Camper to staff 10 to 1)

  • When you register your child, you can request your child to be with a buddy in a specific group. We make every effort to accommodate these requests but they are not guaranteed and they must be age appropriate.

  • Our counselors are mature and experienced role models who are at camp to make a difference. We are fortunate to have many returning staff members each summer who understand the culture of the Abington Club. Our staff is cleared through a national criminal and child abuse clearance. Head counselors and specialists are required to have CPR/First Aid certification.

  • We provide a snack and drink every morning. If your child stays for our extended day program, they will receive another snack around 3:30pm. Lunch is provided on Friday.

  • If you wish to purchase lunch, you can either bring in $7 cash or we can simply charge your credit card on file the following week. Ask about our lunch order slips that help you plan your week and purchasing lunches.

  • If your child forgets their lunch, they will be provided lunch from the snack shack. We will then charge your credit card that same day for that lunch.

  • Our menu is designed to be kid friendly and full of variety. We are a peanut aware camp, but are not peanut free. If your child is a very “picky-eater,” we recommend you provide snacks and lunch daily.

  • If your child has a food allergy, please be sure to indicate this when you register and take proper precautions including educating your child about his or her allergies and sending in proper medication. Also, we will have a designated nut free table where children will be advised to sit. All of our staff are made aware of which campers have allergies, and are trained to recognize the symptoms of anaphylaxis.

  • All lifeguards adhere to the same staff training requirements including first aid and CPR certification, criminal clearance check and child abuse history clearance. Each camper will have a swim test on their first day of camp used to determine swimming ability. Swimmers will be given a band to be worn at all times in the pool that clearly marks swimming ability. Parents must provide the proper Personal Floatation Device (PDF) for their child if needed that is USCG approved. Camp counselors will be in the pool with children during their designated swim time. Children ages 3-8 also receive swim lessons throughout the week. The Abington Club also offers private lessons throughout the year.

  • Families are responsible for applying the first layer of sunscreen prior to morning drop-off and provide it for use during the camp day. Campers are required to reapply sunscreen before and after their initial swim and counselors are required to help younger children to ensure they are fully covered.

  • At all of our sports fields and various other points throughout camp, we keep water coolers. Campers can use the cups we provide or bring their own water bottle to camp daily.

  • The Abington Club Kids Camp schedule is balanced and focused on child development. The core program consists of swimming, creative arts, adventure and athletics. At each activity the focus is on participation, effort, and sportsmanship. No matter what the activity, we encourage campers to learn something new under the guidance of our trained activity specialists.

  • We have a large number of children with a number of severe food allergies. Because of this, we ask that you do not send in food to celebrate your child’s birthday so a child within the group does not feel left out. Your child will receive a birthday crown and their group will sing to them at lunch time. You are welcome to send in prizes or toys for each child in their group.

  • Our policies are designed to give families maximum flexibility while considering the realities of camp enrollment. You are permitted to make any changes to your schedule by April 1. After April 1, schedules are final. You can add days or weeks to your child’s existing schedule after that date if space allows.

  • All payments, minus the 3% registration fee per camper, are refundable on or before April 1. Refunds of camp tuition, field trip fees, lunch cards, extra t-shirts and bags are not provided after April 1 for any reason, including, without limitation: absences, suspensions, dismissals, or withdrawals.

  • Special guests, events, and Friday lunch, snacks, camp t-shirt, a bag and more are all included in the camp tuition. There are additional fees for before/aftercare, camp field trips, additional lunches and extra t-shirts and bags. There is also a snack shack located by the pool. You can send in money with your child if they would like to purchase additional snacks from the snack shack.

  • For those children who do not want to participate on the field trip, they will have a regular scheduled camp day. Depending on the amount of children who do not attend, they may remain within their own group or may join another for that day. There are usually 2-5 children in each group that do not attend the field trips.

  • During the summer, the Abington Club office is open daily from 8am – 5pm. Contact the Camp Director at 215.885.0734 x113. If you need to speak with your child’s head counselor or group leader, they will call you back during a break or after the campers head home.
